Welcome!
Hello friends, welcome to our new blog! We are all three of us excited to write about interesting goings-on here at the St. Lawrence. The new website is getting set up as we speak –or, more accurately, as I type– and it will have all kinds of information on programming, our progress in the fund-raising effort, and opportunities to get involved! Things that I personally am looking forward to coming up include:
tonight’s showing of The Little Dog Laughed, a play put on by Good Theater, our theater in residence. This play, written by Douglas Carter Beane and directed by Brian P. Allen, is a whole big bunch of fun, and just edgy enough to turn some heads. It’s running until October 11th and I’ll probably watch it a couple more times before it ends. The acting is really great!!
This weekend’s Saturday Show, with Kim and Reggie Harris. This one jumped out at me from the Saturday Show schedule. It’s a family show with two veteran performers featuring African-American spiritual and freedom songs and stories.
And I am totally looking forward to the Blue Lobster Troupe rehearsal Sunday night. It looks like we picked up a couple recruits from the performance last week, so it should be lots of fun!
The rest of the website is on its way, so hang tight everybody. In the meantime, enjoy this amazing 80-year-old photo I found of the original congregation.
