The St. Lawrence Arts Center Adopts A Horse!
The St. Lawrence Arts Center in Munjoy Hill recently adopted a horse. Story below:
A brief history follows:
The trojan horse was Dominic’s idea for a history fair project at Cheverus high school in the year 2002. With much anxiety, it was sketched to scale so that proportions would be correct.
Some safety lessons with a jig saw followed as the plywood frame was cut and assembled. Final proportions were checked and lath applied. The trap door was cut and a tail out of bailing twine was added. The horse was loaded and several football players carried it into the building at Cheverus.
Judges declared it a winner and sent the project to Augusta for state competition. Augusta was a fun trip but gold was not in the cards. The Trojan horse returned to a stall in the barn in New Gloucester until folks from The St. Lawrence Arts Center came to take it home.
Come by and check out the Trojan Horse!!
